The Color Black

I’m going on a color journey. I’ll be studying the energy of colors, how they make me feel, and the reasons I use them in my creations.

The Color Black.

My Black is Beautiful.

I love the color black for its beauty, timelessness, and class. It’s elegant and sleek. Black is the type of color that offers duality, creating mystery and providing clarity. It can keep it real and it will also leave you wondering. That’s such a powerful energy for a color to have.

Although black is a color of many sentiments, often associated with death, grief, and depression - it’s also symbolic of power, sophistication, and formality. Overall, it’s naturally very dramatic.

I may not typically use the color black in my art, but it is the color I use to finalize a painting. Once a canvas painting is complete, I paint the sides black to give it a sense of depth, which creates a bit of a 3-D effect when placed on the wall. If you own an original wall painting, take a look at the sides of the canvas. The black paint creates a clean and finished look that adds a layer of elegance, as if on display in a gallery. One of my favorite creations that also includes the color black are the “Asteroid” co-stars. The aesthetic of these coasters has made them one of the best-selling DMC Original Art products.

Many of us often lean toward decorating our homes with black furniture and accessories because it’s an easier color to match with others and keep stain-free.

Would you ever consider painting a room black? Studies show that black bedrooms may be able to improve sleep quality. What are your thoughts?

Black, a color that greatly reveals the light of all colors, a color that stands the test of time, a color that is extremely powerful here on Earth and beyond.
