The Color White

I’m going on a color journey. I’ll be studying the energy of colors, how they make me feel, and the reasons I use them in my creations.

The Color White.

Like the beginning of any canvas - fresh, pure, clean - white is a color that offers a start to something grand.

There’s something so heavenly about an open space with white walls. They symbolize opportunity and encouragement to create, imagine, and manifest. These spaces invite me to believe that anything is possible. A blank canvas ready to embrace all that I have to offer. The color white has the ability to empower. There’s an innocence that is carried, a calming balance, an elegance, a sense of openness and freedom.

There’s a feeling of completeness, visually, that comes over me when I pair a white space with some of my favorite accent colors which includes black, green, gold, and a pop of teal and salmon. This color combination feeds into my urban jungle energy and brings me so much joy.

The color white is does a great job at creating a simple and open space that offers clarity and inspiration to explore creativity. The color white is presented to us so that we can fill in what may be missing.

The white piece of paper for you to write.

The white page of a new document for you to type.

The white canvas for you to paint, color, draw.

White, the color that gives all else shape and form.

When I paint on canvas and ceramic, I cover the entire surface in non-white colors, and then I add a splash of white paint as a way to bring back a sense of calm and balance. Most of the time, the white in my art represents a wave of light or water. I love the elements of nature and I always seek to find a symbolic connection between the elements and my art. The color white can symbolize the air element, breath of life. Imagine taking a deep breath, inhaling “the color white” and exhaling “the colors of your soul.”

Over time, the color white fades, adjusts, tints, and it simply means it is surrounded by life. White doesn’t stay crisp for long, but as long as we have it, we are empowered to take in the beauty of all colors.

As we prepare for a new year, think of it as a white canvas, a fresh start, a new beginning, open space and opportunity to create and add new colors to your life! Consider going on a color journey of your own, it’s a fun ride of awareness and appreciation. Thanks for joining me on mine.

Happy Holidays to you and your families! and who knows… we just may have a White Christmas.
