Earth at Home II

It’s Earth Day!

I’m a proud student of nature, because nature is my favorite teacher. I turn to the natural elements when in doubt. The pace of water reminds me to be calm and go with the flow. The elements inspire my creative process, especially working with epoxy resin. I create from a space of peace, calm, and ease. The process is liberating. I prefer to work with color combinations that are reflective of water, gemstones, green spaces, and cotton candy sunsets, to name a few.

In my home, there are many reflections of the outside world - water inspired paintings, plants, natural wood furniture, scents of sage and Palo Santo, lots of fruits and vegetables, and I love listening to nature sounds while meditating. I’m grateful for the beauty I find in nature, and I hope that we’re all doing our part to contribute to the health of this planet.

One of my favorite ways to connect with nature is while grounding in my favorite place, Prospect Park. I grew up going there, walking my husky with my mom years ago, and simply enjoying time with my family and friends on the weekends. Sometimes I paint there. These days, I find myself there a few times a month, to connect with the source and gain more inspiration to create. Prospect Park was one of the first places that taught me to embrace nature, and it has inspired me to seek out more of it throughout the world. I’ve done just that. After visiting 35 countries and counting, the sights, sounds, and feelings I’ve taken in are stored in my subconscious, and it is through the power of creativity that I am able to share my interpretation with others through art. I am continuously seeking ways to bring pieces of Earth home, to mine and yours.

Happy Earth Day, today and always.

How is your home decorated? What story does it tell?
